About

Elegor and the Society behind it

Elegor is a high-fantasy worldbuilding project built in public, released under CC BY 4.0, and shaped by everyone who joins. The Elegor Society is the organisation that curates the official corpus and administers the seal system.

How Elegor began

Elegor started as a private worldbuilding project by brothers Davide and Riccardo Ravasi. From the outset, the intention was to release the official corpus freely, as a creative commons that others could build upon. That intention is now the project's constitution: everything Elegor does flows from the choice to keep the world open.

The world is set in a high-fantasy universe with its own cosmology, history, eight sapient species, geography, and magic system. The Elegor Compendium (the wiki at lore.elegor.world) is the canonical record of everything an inhabitant of Elegor can know, observe, and discuss. It grows continuously as the Elegor Society reviews and approves new material.

CC BY 4.0 from the start

Elegor is published under CC BY 4.0. The official corpus is free to read, cite, and build upon for any purpose, including commercial use. Derivative works (stories, games, illustrations, software, music) carry any licence their creators choose, including all-rights-reserved. The only requirement is attribution to the original creators.

This was the founding decision, made before the first line of the Compendium was written. The world exists to be used.

The Elegor Society

The Elegor Society is the curatorial body responsible for the official corpus of Elegor, the seal system, and the Compendium. It is being constituted as an Italian Associazione Culturale, with formal registration targeted for Phase 1 or 2 of the public launch.

The Society's role is curatorial. It reviews proposals for new lore elements, administers the seal system, appoints the Editorial Council, and makes decisions about the long-term direction of the project. Its authority is custodial.

Who leads it

Elegor was created by Davide Ravasi and Riccardo Ravasi. They are the founding members of the Elegor Society and the original creators to whom CC BY 4.0 attribution applies. Until the Society is formally constituted as a legal entity, Davide and Riccardo Ravasi take all official decisions on its behalf.

The Editorial Council

The Editorial Council is the Society's review body. Members are appointed by the Society's founders and assigned to thematic groups (species, history, geography, magic, institutions, and others). Seal submissions are routed to the relevant group, whose members assess them against the published criteria for the requested seal level. Membership is by invitation, and the pool expands as contributors demonstrate sustained engagement with the lore.

Contact

For questions about the lore, seal submissions, licence edge cases, or Society governance, contact Davide Ravasi directly. He is the primary point of contact for all official Elegor matters. Contact details for the Society's formal channels will be published here once the legal entity is constituted.

Attribution

When citing or building on the Elegor corpus, use this template. Adapt the phrasing to your medium (a game credits screen, a book acknowledgements page, a website footer, a metadata field).

Open world. Open corpus.

The Elegor Compendium is the full lore record: species, history, geography, magic, and four thousand years of documented history, all open. The seal system is how the community's work finds its place in it.
